FWPZR Celebrates Feature in the Northwest Examiner
Exciting News for FWPZR!
We are thrilled to announce that Friends of the Washington Park and Zoo Railway (FWPZR) was featured in the latest issue of the Northwest Examiner. Allan Classen, the esteemed editor and publisher, attended our Zoo Train Day at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center and wrote a wonderful article about his experience.
The event was a huge success, with many attendees enjoying the ride and meeting our beloved mascots, Titus the Tiger engineer and Rac the Raccoon. Allan’s article beautifully captures the spirit of the day and highlights the ongoing efforts to restore the historic railway.
The piece, titled "Railway Can't Escape the Zoo," discusses the challenges and triumphs of our mission to revive the Rose Garden Loop. With over 42,000 signatures on our petition and the incredible support from the community, we are more determined than ever to see this project through.
We are grateful to Allan Classen and the Northwest Examiner for shedding light on our cause and helping us reach a wider audience. If you haven't read the article yet, we highly encourage you to check it out here.
Stay tuned for more updates and join us in our mission to bring back this beloved piece of Portland's history!
